More about Love & Happiness: A collection of personal reflections and quotes

Healing the Emptiness is a deeply reflective and spiritually grounded guide by Yasmin Mogahed that explores the emotional void many experience despite worldly success. Drawing from Islamic teachings and psychological insight, the book addresses the roots of despair, shame, and self-hatred, and offers a path toward healing through divine connection, self-awareness, and inner transformation.

Through personal reflections and thematic chapters, Mogahed walks readers through the stages of emotional recovery: identifying the source of emptiness, removing barriers to healing, treating spiritual wounds, guarding the heart, and redefining pain. Her writing is both therapeutic and empowering, reminding readers that every setback carries the potential for spiritual elevation and renewed strength.

With its accessible language and heartfelt tone, the book resonates with anyone navigating emotional hardship, spiritual confusion, or the search for meaning. It is especially valuable for readers seeking a faith-based approach to mental wellness and personal growth.

About the author

Yasmin Mogahed

Yasmin Mogahed

Yasmin Mogahed is an Egyptian-American writer, speaker, and instructor whose work on spirituality, the heart, and the inner life of the believer has made her one of the most widely read English-language Muslim authors of the past decade. Born in 1397 AH / 1977 CE to Egyptian immigrant parents and raised in Wisconsin, she completed her bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she also taught the mass media course as a teaching assistant.

Mogahed worked as a writer, instructor, and youth coordinator at the Islamic Society of Milwaukee before moving into full-time speaking and writing. Her first book, Reclaim Your Heart: Personal Insights on Breaking Free from Life's Shackles (2012), became one of the bestselling English-language Islamic spirituality titles of the 2010s and has been translated into multiple languages. Her second book, Healing the Soul (2022), expanded her themes of attachment, loss, identity, and the soul's longing for the Divine. She has served as a senior fellow at the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research and produces a regular series of essays, video lectures, and teaching seminars.

Her distinctive voice combines lived emotional honesty with grounding in the Qur'an, the Prophetic example, and the classical Islamic spiritual tradition. Her audiences are particularly substantial among Muslim women navigating questions of identity, relationships, grief, and the interior dimensions of faith — though her readership extends well beyond any single demographic. She continues to lecture internationally and remains based in Wisconsin.
