About the author

Muhammad Sa'id Raslan

Muhammad Sa'id Raslan

Shaykh Dr. Muhammad Sa'id Raslan is an Egyptian Salafi scholar, hadith specialist, and one of the more prolific contemporary Sunni authors writing in Arabic, with more than four hundred and forty published books and several hundred recorded lecture series to his name. Born on 23 November 1955 in the village of Subk al-Ahad in the Ashmun district of Munufiyya governorate in the Egyptian Delta — about forty-five minutes from Cairo — he has remained based in his home village for the majority of his adult life and teaches and delivers the Friday khutba at the Subk al-Ahad mosque.

Raslan's educational background is unusual in its breadth: he holds a bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery from al-Azhar University, alongside a separate bachelor's in Arabic Language from the Islamic Studies Division of al-Azhar. He went on to complete his master's degree in Hadith Sciences with first-class honors for his thesis Dawabit al-Riwaya 'inda al-Muhaddithin ('The Principles of Narration According to the Hadith Scholars'), and his PhD in Hadith Sciences with first-class honors for his dissertation al-Ruwat al-Mubadda'un min Rijal al-Kutub al-Sitta ('The Narrators Accused of Innovation Among the Men of the Six Books'). He has received an ijaza in al-Arba'un al-Buldaniyya — a forty-hadith collection with chains tracing back to the Prophet ﷺ.

His published corpus spans hadith methodology, classical Sunni creed, fiqh, the lives of the Companions, refutations, and thematic Qur'anic and Prophetic studies. Several of his works have been translated into English by independent Salafi-oriented publishers, including Jinn (a comprehensive treatment of the world of the jinn drawn from the Qur'an, Sunna, and statements of the salaf), Refuting the Doubts Surrounding the Da'wah of Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, and shorter treatises. His Friday lectures and recorded lessons circulate widely in Egyptian and Arabic-speaking Salafi study circles.
