Tasnim Nazeer

Tasnim Nazeer is a British Muslim journalist, author, and television reporter of Sri Lankan heritage, known both for her investigative human-rights and interfaith journalism and for her children's books on Islamic themes. Edinburgh-based, she became Scotland's first hijab-wearing freelance TV reporter when she joined STV News and ITN Productions Industry News in 2020. She holds a BA Honours in English Language and Literature from the Open University and a master's degree in International Journalism from Edinburgh Napier University.

Nazeer's bylines include Al Jazeera, BBC News, CNN, The Guardian, HuffPost, The Independent, TRT World, Middle East Eye, and Middle East Monitor. Her investigative work has covered the persecution of Uyghur Muslims, the missing journalists of Sri Lanka, racism in the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Grenfell Tower tragedy. She is also a freelance contributor to BBC Radio 2's Pause for Thought segment. As a children's author, her books include Allah's Gifts (Greenbird Book Publishers), and Aleena Celebrates Eid and It's Ramadan (both published by the International Islamic Publishing House), alongside Muslimah's Key to Jannah and Islamic Finance: A Practical Introduction.

Nazeer received the Muslim News Ibn Battuta Award for Excellence in Media in 2013 and the FIPP Rising Stars in Media Award in 2018, and was named one of the Top 40 Inspirational Muslim Women in the World by MB Muslima magazine. She serves as a Universal Peace Federation Ambassador for Peace, recognized for her interfaith journalism work.
