Dr. Muhammad Musa al-Sharif is a Saudi Islamic scholar, historian, and popular speaker whose accessible works on Islamic history — particularly his studies of the major Muslim civilizational achievements, the lives of the Companions, and the history of the Ottoman Empire — have circulated widely in the Arabic-speaking world. Born in Madinah in 1380 AH / 1961 CE into a family with deep scholarly roots in the city, he completed his bachelor's degree at the Islamic University of Madinah, his master's degree in Hadith Sciences from Umm al-Qura University in Mecca, and his PhD in Islamic History from the same institution.

Al-Sharif's published output spans Islamic history, biography, da'wah methodology, and contemporary social thought. His best-known works include the multi-volume al-Wajiz fi al-Tarikh al-Islami ('The Concise Islamic History') series, Mawqif al-Sahaba min al-Fitan ('The Position of the Companions toward Tribulations'), al-Tabi'un Sira wa Athar ('The Tabi'un: Life and Legacy'), studies on the Ottoman caliphate and the fall of al-Andalus, and a substantial body of works on the manhaj of personal Islamic development. He has authored more than forty books in total. Through his lectures, audio courses, and television appearances on Iqra' and other Islamic channels, he has become one of the recognized contemporary Saudi voices in popular Islamic history.

Al-Sharif has held academic posts at King Abd al-Aziz University in Jeddah, where he taught Islamic history, and lectures regularly across the Gulf and the wider Arab world. He continues to write and lecture from Jeddah, with a steady pace of new publications in his characteristic accessible historical-narrative style — works particularly valued by general readers and students seeking accessible entry-points into the major periods and figures of Islamic civilization.
