Muhammad Isa García Biography

Shaykh Muhammad Isa García is an Argentine-born convert to Islam, Spanish-language Qur'an translator, and the leading figure in contemporary Latin American da'wah and Islamic publishing. Born in Argentina in approximately 1391 AH / 1971 CE into a Catholic family, he embraced Islam in his early adulthood and traveled to Saudi Arabia to pursue formal Islamic education. He earned his bachelor's degree from the Islamic University of Madinah, his master's degree from the same institution, and his PhD in Islamic Studies from al-Imam Muhammad ibn Sa'ud Islamic University, with specialization in da'wah and the foundations of religion.

García's most consequential work is his Spanish translation and commentary of the Qur'an, El Noble Corán y su traducción-comentario en lengua española, published through the King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex and distributed in millions of copies across the Spanish-speaking world. The translation, distinguished by its accessible contemporary Spanish and substantial accompanying notes, has become the primary Spanish-language translation in mosques, da'wah centers, and Islamic libraries across Latin America, Spain, and Spanish-speaking Muslim diaspora communities. He has also produced Spanish translations of classical works including Riyad al-Salihin and shorter Islamic literature, as well as original Spanish-language works on creed, fiqh, and the prophetic biography.

García serves as a Spanish-language religious educator at the Department of Religious Affairs in Saudi Arabia and lectures regularly at international Islamic conferences, particularly those addressing Latin American Muslim communities. His distinctive contribution has been to build a substantial body of high-quality Spanish-language Islamic literature where almost none existed a generation ago, opening sustained scholarly access to the Islamic tradition for one of the world's largest language communities.
