Shaykh Muhammad al-Abdah is a Syrian-born scholar and writer best known in English-speaking Sunni circles for his collaborative work on the Salafi reform movement and on contemporary Islamic intellectual history. His most widely circulated English-language title is The Salafiyyah Movement: Its Origins, Adversaries, Senior Personalities, and Books — a translation of the work he co-authored in Arabic with Tariq Abd al-Halim, which provides a sustained traditionalist Sunni narrative of the genealogy and development of the Salafi reform tradition from Ibn Taymiyya through Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab to the twentieth-century revival.
